I studied Art and Design at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen, specialising in jewellery and graphics. After graduating I worked freelance, making and selling jewellery and producing illustrations for teaching materials. Some time later I retrained as a teacher and became an Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) supporting teachers in Leicester City schools with Art and Design. Since returning to Scotland in 2014 I have been developing the use of textiles in my art. I think of my textile art as a way of drawing with thread and painting with fabric. Recently I have been exploring three dimensional bird scenes inspired by Victorian taxidermy and using some of the skills I acquired as a jeweller.
