Biography

Heather Wilson

2017/18
Continuation of art practice, exhibiting where possible.

2016
Living in Edinburgh. Scotland.
Experimenting with printing/combining mono prints, wood cuts and wood engravings.
Taking stock of which direction to go!

2015-2011. Edinburgh. Scotland.
Voluntary work with Edinburgh carers charity, Vocal.
Continuation and development of artistic practice and home educating younger son.
Single parent with 2 sons, one home educated, one at college.
Completed private commission, multiple block wood engraving called, 'Irene's Garden'.
Pursuing artistic development, worked on a portrait of David Burnett, wood engravings collector.
Working on own personal projects and experimenting to develop artistic practice.
Lino printing workshops with staff from charity, working with people with Aspergers/autism.
Joined board of FAIR, an Edinburgh charity advising and supporting people with additional support needs and learning disabilities.

2010
Devised, co-ordinated and produced, a hand printed limited edition calendar by 6 artists for 2011, jointly with son. Edinburgh. Scotland.

Weekend printmaking workshops, Tweeddale Museum and Art gallery, Peebles. Scotland.
6 week residency, woodcut workshops at Castlemilk Housing estate. Glasgow. Scotland.

Part-time lecturer in screenprinting and graphics, North Tyneside college of Further Education, living in Edinburgh and travelling.
Printmaking workshops, Gateshead Central Library. England.
Printing Thomas Bewick wood engravings, at Charlotte Press, from the original wood blocks, for Newcastle Central Library, archive. The Pease collection. (2 Year commissioned project). Newcastle. England.
Teaching weekend courses at Charlotte press, in etching. Newcastle. England.
Moved residence, to live in Edinburgh.

1989-86
Joint project funded by Northern Arts: produced boxed set of 24 poem prints based on the Exeter Riddle book. Newcastle University, England.
Teaching Etching courses at Charlotte Press. Newcastle, England.
Lino cutting workshop at the Durham Light Infantry Museum, to accompany print exhibition. Durham. England.
Mono-printing workshop, Laing art gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Summer 'play worker' employment, for Newcastle City Council.
Studio work and own artistic practise. Newcastle. England.

1986-1985
Part time child minder, worked in a whole food cafe and whole food shop.
Worked for Gateshead council, mainly with adults in day a care centre for people with mental health conditions. Newcastle. England.

1984- completed fine art degree in printmaking, Sunderland polytechnic. England. B.A.(hons). 2:1.
