Jennifer was born and brought up in Edinburgh, moving to Aberdeen in the 1980's, where she studied Zoology at the University of Aberdeen.
It is only since 2010 that Jennifer has been able to spend any significant amount of time being creative. She worked for many years in fisheries research and also as a translator, editor and e-learning adviser. She has drawn and painted throughout her life, but until recently had no formal training in the arts. She attended a weekly watercolour painting class for 5 years at the studio in Udny Green in Aberdeenshire (run by Tolquhon Gallery), receiving tuition from Skye-born, Edinburgh School of Art graduate, Donald Murray. She now attends an art class run by Mike Samson at Blairs College.
She paints mainly in watercolours; subjects vary from local boats, landscapes and seascapes, to Scottish flora and fauna, west coast letterboxes and corrugated iron sheds. Anything which catches her eye.
Jennifer has participated in North East Open Studios for the past five years, welcoming visitors to her back garden cabin studio in Aberdeen. This year's event takes place from 10th - 18th September inclusive.
