Biography

Christopher Wood RSW

A full-time professional artist, Christopher has played an active role in the Scottish Art scene for nearly two decades.

His activities include:
President of the Society of Scottish Artists (2009-2011).
Board Member of the Exhibiting Societies of Scottish Artists (ESSA) (2006-2011).
Vice-President of the Society of Scottish Artists (2009-2011).
An elected Member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) (2006).
An Elected Member of The Paisley Art Institute (PAI) (2005).
An Elected Member of the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) (2004).
An Elected Member of the Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) (1993).
He was elected to serve on the Council of the Society of Scottish Artists from 2004 to 2011.
He served on the Council of the Scottish Artists and Artist Craftsmen (1995 97).
Awarded a Fellowship to the Glasgow Art Club (2005) and professional membership in the same year.
Awarded professional membership of the Scottish Art Club in 1995.
Christopher trained at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with an Honours degree in Drawing & Painting in 1984.
He has been a full-time professional artist since his first one-man exhibition in Edinburgh 1987.

His awards include: The Glasgow Art Club Fellowship from The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW);
The Armour Award from the Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts in 1994;
and The James Torrance Memorial Award from the Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts in 1993.

He is married with two young children and two step-children. He lives and works in the coastal town of Dunbar, near Edinburgh (Scotland).
