Biography

Alison Thomas

Originally from a textile background, Alison now paints mostly in oils from her studio at the Courtyard, Irvine Harbourside. She graduated from Duncan Of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, in 1996 where she specialised in tapestry weaving. She has been working as an artist ever since producing paintings, printmaking and textiles in addition to running art classes from her studio and around Ayrshire.

Alison has shown in various galleries around the Uk, France & Italy. Her artwork shows a textile influence from her use of patterning and texture, she is attracted to the colours patterns and performers associated with the circus. She is particularly interested in the harlequin couple which she enjoys taking out of context and placing in various fairy tale like settings. There is often a personal and symbolic story behind each painting.

Alison welcomes visitors to her studio.
