My name is Emma Lindsay and I am an artist, designer and maker with a BA honours degree in architectural glass. I knew I wanted to be an artist from a very young age; no alternative career path has ever really crossed my mind. It wasn't until my first year of Art College however that I discovered the medium of glass and fell in love with it. I had of course seen and admired many stained glass windows before but never realised until this point that glass held such enormous potential for contemporary artists. I have been working with glass for over ten years now and still find it a captivating medium to work in. I grew up in a small rural village in central Scotland and as a result of this nature has become a major inspiration in my work. I see nature as an inherently beautiful and timeless subject matter that everyone can relate to and which transcends language and cultural differences. I am always striving to create a sense of energy and movement in my work using co lours, textures and spontaneous mark-making as I believe the feeling you get from a work of art is just as important as the content of it.
