I'm an Irish artist lucky enough to be living in the far north of Scotland where I get to indulge my three passions in life - animals, nature and art - the first two being the inspiration for the last.
I love vibrant colour and thick texture especially in my landscape paintings and like to use palette knives in an impasto technique to create a very tactile surface.
We are blessed with massive skies in the far north of Scotland and the sunrises, sunsets and northern lights provide me with endless inspiration. When it comes to painting the rugged beauty of the place I call home, I like to leave reality in the reference photo and let my imagination and vibrant palette take over so I can create a piece that reflects my own interpretation of the landscape rather than trying to replicate what nature has already perfected.
As well as landscapes and original artwork of wild and farmed animals, I also accept landscape commissions and pet portrait commissions. Animals inspire much of my artwork and my goal is always to capture the essence of their personality and soul with every brushstroke.
I have art in private collections all over the UK as well as in America, Canada, Australia and Europe.
