Jim Tait

Born in Unst, Shetland in 1948, and had an early interest in painting the sea, and the many fishing vessels which visited the Shetland harbours. Attended Grays School of Art from 1967 to 1969, but left to follow a career mostly in administration, with painting as a profitable sideline. Became a full-time professional artist in 2003. Particularly interested in painting ships in all kinds of weather, and in the way sunlight affects the sea and land.
