Lizzie Gibson

Scottish artist Lizzie Gibson has been painting in oils since 1999. Successfully exhibiting initially in Lanarkshire, she went on to be awarded "Most Promising New Artist" at the Pittenweem Arts Festival Open Exhibition in Fife in 2004 and continues to show work there annually. Her work has been selected for the Macmillan Cancer Support Glasgow Art Show since 2009 and Edinburgh Exhibition since 2011.

Lizzie is influenced by the work of colourists and is also an admirer of contemporary artists including Deborah Philips, Lin Patullo and Georgina McMaster. She was fortunate to receive inspiring tuition from Scottish painter Graeme Sharp when making the transition from painting in gouache to oils.

The strong colours and clarity of light in the East Neuk of Fife are the source for her paintings within the theme of The Beach. In still life she explores the effects of space, colour and shadows cast.
