Biography

Ailsa Black

Ailsa Black lives on the Solway Coast in Dumfries and Galloway and it is here that she takes her inspiration from. Many of her paintings are influenced by the views from her studio in a small village on the coast with sea views to the front and hills and fields to the back.

Ailsa works in acrylic paint on canvas board, with a limited, but bold, palette of colours. She likes to simplify form to bring a modern decorative clarity and simplicity to the image.
