Rosy Long

ROSY LONG DA - Grays School of Art
Rosy Long is a visually impaired artist who lives in the beautiful village of Muchalls in Aberdeenshire. She also has the rare trait of synaesthesia, in her case a strong association between various symbols such as letters of the alphabet on the one hand and clear, well-defined colours on the other. Her work is inspired by cats and by the picturesque rural surroundings in which she lives.

Alongside her artwork, Rosy worked as an Art Specialist teaching Special Needs pupils. Having trained in Drawing and Painting, she now works in papier maché bas-relief, using acrylic mirrors to add a feeling of space and distance. Her artworks are of a narrative quality with a quirky sense of humour - but they usually have a dark side to them. Rosy runs Muchalls Drawing Group .
