I am mainly self taught and work in various mediums moving between them to keep ideas fresh and interesting. Colour, shape, impression are important to the way I work rather than a true to life rendering and this is predominant in the vibrant silk paintings produced. I often use two or more outliners in one piece so that the finished picture has a slightly 3-D effect.
Watercolour is a favourite medium and is used in semi-abstract flower paintings, still lifes and landscapes, sometimes bringing in other media such as oil pastel, acrylic and pen.
I was born in North Yorkshire but relocated six years ago to Dumfriesshire with my husband Neil and have exhibited widely, both in my native Yorkshire and Dumfriesshire.
