recent exhibitions: I have a large body of sculptural work at Kelburn Country Park, as well as at various other indoor and outdoor locations throughout Scotland, including Gatehouse of Fleet, Culzean and Plockton.
biography: Having worked successfully as a woodcarver for many years, I have recently been exploring the possibility of using willow as a scuptural material. My woodcarvings have generally been large outdoor pieces in oak, but for the past year I have done much less carving, and much more painting - working in acrylics, and employing some of the techniques which I used when drafting out early designs for carvings.
additional information: I am very interested in depicting urban and rural images of Scotland, mostly involving people going about their everyday lives, as well as explorations of the often hyper real colours of the Scottish landscape - something of a luxury for one who has spent so many years working in wood! I like to work quickly, and often to involve movement, activities, and the way in which people interact with their environment. I also rather like to create paintings which people may want to live with.
