biography:
I am a full time artist, working in all media and all manner of styles and subjects, and love the adrenalin rush of seeing each work take shape, trying new things all the time. I would hate to be restricted into the one style. The fact that viewers and purchasers of my works also get pleasure from them is both a bonus and a delight for me.
I am inspired by the Scottish and Irish countryside; with its wonderful changing light and seasons, stunning coastlines and dramatic, historic landscapes. I also get great inspiration from my Irish (Celtic) ancestry. I continue to I have an enduring love of florals, and adore creating colourful and textural contemporary works that make people want to reach out and touch them.
I also work extensively on Glass and have a number of glass art works on display in The Auld Kirk Museum, Kirkintilloch and The Tower Gallery Kirriemuir
I hope to continue to grow and develop as an artist and to keep working in many different styles. I use every type of media in contemporary and traditional ways. I love to push the boundaries and try loads of new things - I will never be pushed into a singular "style" - there is too much to be explored.
I am a gallery artist with Ealain Gallery, Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire and The Tower Gallery, Kirriemuir, Angus, and have been showing at GALLERY 23, Parnie St, Glasgow from 4th April since their Spring Show. I have recently added work to the gallery of Ian McNab, High Street, Dunblane nr Stirling . A number of other galleries have also expressed an interest in showing my work, and I hope to take up this opportunity soon. I take part in many open exhibitions around the country independently and I am a member of the inArt Contemporary Artists Collective. I have work showing throughout the year at McCarthys Bar and B&B, Westport, Eire www.mccarthyslodge.com
I have commissioned paintings all over the world now and that gives me a great buzz. Last year I staged my first Solo exhibition - Summer at The Town House, Culross in Fife and hope to stage another solo event in the near future. I am pleased to be working on some large commissions and preparing for a number of shows in the coming year.
