recent exhibitions: She has exhibited at numerous venues throughout Edinburgh and Glasgow. Her first solo show was held at Kojin, Leith in February 2000. Her second solo show was in October 2000 and was hosted jointly by Kojin and Ednet (Leith) and concentrated on Leith and its surroundings; portraying its waters, its landmarks and its different moods and seasons.
biography: Shona Dougall graduated with honours in Fine Art Drawing and Painting from Glasgow School of Art in 1981. A contemporary of Peter Howson Adrienne Wiszniewski and Ken Curry, she won the Mary Armour Still Life Prize in her final year. On leaving art school she became involved in working with community art groups. This led to employment with Lanarkshire council in 1983 to work with 16 to 21 year olds. In 1997 she took early retirement to concentrate on painting full time.
additional information: Working mainly in pastel, themes include still life, portraiture and landscape; in particular Mediterranean and Scottish scenes. She has a passion for colour and for creating mood through colour. Her work attracted the attention of Chapman Literary Magazine where she was the featured artist in the Summer 2001 issue, Chapman 98. She was invited to contribute to the Glasgow Group’s exhibitions during 2000 -2001 and in June 2001 became a full member of the group.
